Warner Music Germany

Andreas Igler, IT Director Warner Music Germany: „Due to its distinct and undemonstrative planning and solution competence, euromicron distinguished itself from the multitude of partners at a very early stage …We have rated exceedingly positive that euromicron was able to offer a wide spectrum of solutions and technologies, preferred joint procedure at all times and was always prepared to perform a pro-active know-how transfer during the conversations … Here it was also important that we had gained the impression to have attained a high degree of planning security with our new partner …This impression has been impressively confirmed during the accomplishment phase.“

Planning with competence, network integration based on experience
The selection of a project partner for the network infrastructure of large building complexes is an investment decision with long-term consequences, which can hardly be revised. Long-lived expertise in the field of system integration of complex voice and data networks with state-of-the-art active and passive components are just as important as the ability to optimally represent individual customer requirements in the concept and to guarantee absolutely reliable project handling.

Based on more than a century of experience in accomplishment of complex building networks, euromicron planned and projected the complete network infrastructure in the architecturally demanding new location of the Warner Music Germany at the Deichtorcenter in Hamburg. All work – among other things the installation of approx. 1 km fiber optic and 65 km copper cable of the euromicron partner Corning – was thereby accomplished under at times very difficult conditions during the construction phase and successfully completed.

Debitel

Mr Kunz, quality responsible of the project: „The indoor mobile installation of euromicron provides an essential added value for our personnel and our customers – moreover, we are quite satisfied with the entire concept.“

Security by availability required, quality and reliability delivered
The operativeness of cellular networks in major building complexes is meanwhile no longer a subject relating to comfort, but has in the first instance become a central safety factor. This applies to both the mobile phone supply and the special radio networks of the security forces such as the police, fire brigade and Emergency Medical Services in buildings with insulating thus shielding windows, in tunnels, in underground car parks, etc. While the conversion to modern digital technology is still in the planning phase of public authorities, the mobile phone availability in shielded buildings can today already be secured via an appropriate cellular infrastructure. Banks and insurance companies, industrial enterprises, public authorities, clinic operators, hotel chains, the railway – all users of major buildings or tunnel complexes already plan, realize or operate such safety-engineering communication solutions.

As a system house, euromicron can demonstrate long-lived competence in the field of analysis, planning and implementation of such safety-engineering communication solutions. Beside many other projects, the mobile-phone availability was secured via inward enhancement of the outside radio field in the underground car park of the new Debitel building in the Stuttgart Engineering Park. The installed system consists of a receiving antenna, amplifier and the slotted band cable, which acts as a transmitting antenna in the underground car park. The cable installation under the suspended ceiling provides for the appropriate aesthetics.

Deutsche Telekom AG

Deutsche Telekom AG, Central Service Elmshorn: „Sachsenkabel (euromicron components) is a certified and licensed supplier of Deutsche Telekom AG of fiber optic assembled cables and components. These cables and components are used in national and international networks of Deutsche Telekom. Sachsenkabel delivers very high quality fiber optic components within a very short delivery period, even for made-to-order production.“

Tailors of optical connections, sprinters in delivery
Scheduled and short-term network expansion or reconstruction requires tailored manufacture according to precise customer specification and fast delivery of the assembled products such as connector cables, patch cables, breakout cables or compact modules for population of subracks. Since optical connections are very rarely still processed on building sites, due to cleanliness and high assembly costs, pre-assembled components must be delivered just-in-time and in a suitable state for building sites and assembly. Quality and adherence to delivery dates are subject to maximum demands; measurement reports for each assembled product and shortest possible delivery periods are therefore standard.

COM-IN Telekommunikations GmbH

Mr Reckstadt, city network operator COM IN in Ingolstadt:„The cooperation with the euromicron has essentially contributed towards quickly and easily expanding our fiber optics network. Therefore, we will use the sewer link system also in the future“

Dark sewers, bright fibers
The expansion of municipal infrastructure networks and wide area networks of the power utilities is complex and cost-intensive and therefore requires innovative solutions. euromicron therefore relies on special cables of the Swiss company BRUGG Cable AG, as for example the Sewer Link Cable or the so-called Guard Wire Aerial Cable. The particularly sturdy fiber optic cables with bundled stainless steel strands and mechanical cable armour made of electro-plated steel wires with up to 144 fibers are installed in sewers or wired to pylons as a cost-effective variant without any auxiliary means. Complex installation can therefore be abandoned in the event of lacking cable routes.

Such a project has been realized by euromicron as a turnkey project for the city network operator COM-IN in Ingolstadt. Even laying through a culvert transversely beneath the Danube is no obstruction for this installation. The network connection takes place with components in single fiber management according to the operator‘s demanding requirement profile. Since the operator was highly satisfied with the pilot project, other similar projects were realized.

Mr. Weigert, member of the board of management of IVM:„With the selection of our new network, we attached great importance to a qualitatively high-class solution at reasonable prices. Our decision was therefore made in favour of the system SKM ProfiLINK. The combination of link-tested hardware and professional service by the certified installation partner particularly convinced us. Clear increase in performance and appropriate system reserves now allow us to look calmly into our network future.“

High-end network components, reasonable prices
Mainly medium-sized customers attach great importance to an adequate price/performance ratio in the field of network technology, equally high product quality and competent support. While some installation companies integrate individual components “from the catalogue” themselves, euromicron with the cabling system ProfiLINK offers a system solution with its own test protocol, which has been certified by the Gesellschaft für Hochfrequenzmesstechnik AG (GHMT) and which is available in various versions. Selected partnership enterprises, which have demonstrated their expertise via a special certification, carry out the installation. This way the end customer receives a qualitatively high-class, optimally-coordinated network solution with competent support at reasonable prices, combined with a 15-year product guarantee as a form of investment protection.

More than 120 workstations were integrated into the company network of Edscha AG, an enterprise belonging to the automobile supplier IVM Automotive in Munich, via ProfiLINK.

Neue Börse Frankfurt

Thomas Reich, the “New stock exchange IT” project manager of Deutsche Börse Systems AG:„The ultra-modern network of the new stock exchange guides the monitoring and control of stock market events into a new age. The stock market is thus ready for the next bull market“

Bull and bear online, reliable network for new stock exchange NEUE BÖRSE
The stock exchange does not have any closing hours: The communication system of the new stock exchange in Frankfurt may only be out of operation for a maximum of 2.5 hours a year as up to 32 billion euros are traded via the Xetra electronic trading system each day. How can one guarantee such network availability with a global peak value of 99.97 per cent?

The redundant design of the entire network “guarantee ´no single point of failure´ and can each individually operate the entire network”, explains Bernd Kaffenberger, responsible for the network operation of the new stock exchange. This is possible amongst other things due to a densely packed, but nevertheless service-friendly exploitation of the distribution compartments from the basement to the ceiling (72 module hights) as well as the systematically planned and structured cabling of the 10,000 ports with 1,200 km of copper and 200 km of fibre-optic cable. Each of the 3,500 basement tanks of the new stock exchange offers a total of four data connections in accordance with the RJ-45 standard, two 600 MHz connections as well as a glass fibre-optic pair with an E2000 connector system (fibre to the desk). All employees can use videoconference and broadband cable TV applications at the workstation in addition to telephone, fax and PC services, to hold conferences or pursue international stock market events throughout the world.

The entire project for the data, communication and security network with video monitoring, burglar alarm systems, fully digital intercom, a security management system as well as satellite and a broadband system was carried out by euromicron.

Sektkellerei Henkell & Co.

Markus Wießner, Facility-Manager of Henkell & Söhnlein Sektkellereien KG:„We have looked for a partner who fulfils the requirements set by us by means of its technical and manual expertise. We have found this partner in the form of euromicron“Olaf Lobenhofer, safety engineer of the company:„The systems work in an extremely stable manner, the maintenance and service tasks of euromicron are dealt with extremely effectively“.

Sparkling installation, safe production
Communication does not just mean the interchange of voice and data, but also the transmission of alarm, control and monitoring signals, particularly in safety networks, which should protect against fire, burglary and other risks. Thus fire and burglar alarms are integrated within a risk management system, which amongst others communicates via glass fibre connections.

The world famous Sektkellerei Henkell & Co. (sparkling wine makers Henkell & Co.) with its historical main building has various filling and equipment systems, fermentation and storage cellars as well as offices on its production site. Such environmental conditions make it necessary to have extremely complex fire and burglary protection, whereby moist cellars and production rooms, which have intensive disruptive factors, increase the risk of a false alarm ensuring that conventional solutions are out of the question. An extensive installation consisting of a main node and five subnodes protects the Henkell site. This network of several fire alarm systems and a burglar alarm system is connected to the risk management system with multi-user capabilities. Some of the nodes are networked with fibre-optic cables in order to bridge much greater distances than can be covered with conventional wiring.

Freie Universität Berlin

Innovative top-research, future-oriented technique
At Freie Universität Berlin, in the mean time advanced to one of Germany’s elite university, a huge portion of about 11% of the scientists are international high performance scientists. Their communication needs are accordingly so that it had to be satisfied with high-sophisticated communication technique.

However, the installation had to be performed without any rebuilding and the already existing underfloor system had to be re-used due to the fact that the building of the FU Berlin is classified as historical monument. Therefore optical installation switches by MICROSENS, a subsidiary of the euromicron group, have been installed that are capable to be configured on the desk side and that provide RJ-45-compatible interfaces for the terminals of the end users. In addition to that MICROSENS was also selected in order to ensure a sensible treatment of the historial building during the installation phase.

By Fibre-To-The-Office (FTTO) – fibre optics up to the office – the historical building of Freie Universität Berlin now has one of the most sophisticated access systems of communication techniques. The users are highly satisfied by the performance and the applications of the system, thus the next upgrade step is already in the planning process.

Republik Turkmenistan

O2

Republic Turkmenistan

Gas via pipeline, data via fibre optics
The young republic Turkmenistan belongs to the five biggest oil and gas pumping countries of the world. 70% of the export are gas deliveries that are supplied within pipelines toTurkey via Iran, to Pakistan via Afghanistan or to Japan via Afghanistan, Pakistan and China. The distances of such pipielines have to be remote controlled by fibre optics because only those connections have low attenuation on the long distance route sections.

The polish branch office of euromicron’s subsidiary MICROSENS has delivered, installed and streamlined the fibre optics network along the pipeline together with the polish enterprises Teleoptices and Prochem. In parallel to that the remote control system has been installed that controls and monitors the several pipeline-substations, each within a vicinity of 100 km. The remote control system has been designed fault-tolerant according to a fibre optics ring structure, whereas Fast-Ethernet Industrial Switches with redundant Fibre optice connections by MICROSENS have been installed. Those provide a network reconfiguration within less than 100 ms in case of an outage of a fibre optics segment and thus guarantee a permanent availability of all network subscribers.

The repair of the fibre optics network has been carried out under tough strains and extreme climate conditions. Nevertheless, the gas pump stations now possess highly available fibre optics connections to remote control and monitor the pumping devices. Hence, the customer not only operates a reliable gas pumping plant which can be monitored centralized despite of the extrem long distances and the extrem climate conditions, but he is also more than satisfied because of the fibre optics concept and the installed components by MICROSENS that secure a high available and reliable monitoring infrastructure.

O2

Extension dialed, external subscriber reached
From a technical point of view the convergence of voice and data communication, especially by radio transmission, has become reality long time ago. However, a tailor-made solution based on the competence of the various communication techniques is needed to realise a customer application of a huge enterprise active in the medical branch. Here a closed user enterprise communication for voice and data applications was requested that, besides others, assures permanent availability via voice or data of the requested subscriber under the same internal extension.

That solution has been provided by euromicron’s subsidiary Schneider Kommunikation München and O2 Germany, subsidiary of Telefónica S.A.. O2, in close co-operation with its affiliated company Telefónica Deutschland GmbH, has offered the solution blocks Virtual Private Network and Voice Terminals. In addition to that the network function and the closed user group based on GSM an UMTS cards have been implemented. Schneider Kommunikation München has integrated an IP-based voice system as a so called Managed Services. Managed Services in that sense mean operation, configuration, administration, monitoring and all service activities of the voice system. The voice system is connected to the IP-platform of Telefónica Deutschland GmbH and combines voice-over-IP-telephony with mobile communication.

With that solution the customer refused to buy and install his own network and telephony infrastructure. Instead of this he relies with his entire enterprise communication on an own closed network service. This will be performed completely transparent, hence the dialling of the well-known internal extension automatically leads to a connection with the required subscriber, either in the fixed-network or in the mobile network.

Innovative connector technology, tailored for users

„We wanted a backbone to which one can connect everything that is operated in the computer center, the way gas, water and power supply lines are laid down once in a city in order to connect the buildings to them according to the needs. At the same time the infrastructure should be future-proof, thus should have a service life of approximately 10 years and a constant, uniform quality“,so the satisfied customer, for whom these criteria were crucial for the award of contract.

The success of the combination of manufacturer competence and planning business is shown in an exemplary manner with the development of ultra-modern, modular plug connections for complex fiber optic cabling. With the URM-concept (yoU aRe Modular) developed by euromicron, fiber optic connectors no longer have to be connected to single fibers, but offer complete compatibility even with a different number of connections. This enables flexible, future-oriented construction of customer-tailored infrastructure in computer centers, server farms and high-class optical networks. euromicron realized the integration of computer centers of several regional service providers from the bank sector, based on the URM concept, in conjunction with the conversion to modern fiber channel technology. Increasing data rates, high network availability, outstanding modularity: those requirements are given by URM and high-class cable technology.

Serious differences can be seen between standard cabling with single jumper cables and the structured URM-concept with trunk cable backbone, which combines clear-arranged and cost-effective exchangeability.
